What went well for my blog in 2024?
- My blog successfully managed to sustain itself for a whole year without being deleted, which it couldn't in 2023.
- A greater community of regular viewers began to develop.
- I reached over 6,000 pageviews.
- I managed to crank out 16 complete album reviews.
- Scheduling improved toward the end of the year.
What didn't go well for my blog in 2024?
- For most of the year, any semblance of a posting schedule was thrown out the window.
- I promised to post a lot of things that I ultimately never did.
- Out of the 52 weeks of the year, I posted a grand pathetic total of fourteen Hits 1 Weekend Countdown/Hitbound overviews.
- Overall, I only released 41 posts out of the 52 weeks of the year, which means, considering my original schedule of one post per week, my blog cumulatively had approximately three months of complete downtime throughout the year.
- I randomly lost interest in pop music multiple times, and therefore I had a lot of delays and hiatus. That also made many of my H1WC/HB overviews (especially those in the second half of the year) hard to make and a bit hard to read also.
What were some general changes that occurred throughout 2024?
- My blog title was changed from "Hallett's Countdown Reviews" to "Hallett's Music Reviews".
- As the name change suggests, my blog became primarily taken up by album reviews rather than reviews of the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown.
- I gradually became a Swiftie, and my many Swift-related posts in the second half of the year reflect that. (So many that I needed to create a whole new label to mark posts as "Taylor Swift".)
- My song rating system became much more intentional in attempt to save extreme "great" and "terrible" ratings for songs I truly believed should deserve it.
- I tried to make each review I created as "unique" as I could, without making things hard on myself.
What are my goals for 2025?
- I want to try to get out two posts per week: one H1WC/HB review and one other post, which will be an album review at least every other week.
- I want to review albums from a wider range of music genres: so far my biggest "deviation" from my usual genres was when I reviewed Pearl Jam's Dark Matter.
- I want to hold some kind of decently successful event on my blog.
- I want to reach 13,000 views by the end of the year.
- If I say I'm going do something, I have to actually do it!!! (500-page reviews of each individual song that's ever been written ever are going to be posted soon...)
