Hallett's Top 20 - January

Hi! Welcome to my first personal top 20 post. Every month on the last empty Friday that's not taken up by an album review, I will post my own personal top 20 songs for the past month.

This is a bit different from the top 20 chart I did a while back on Crownnote. I'm no longer using Crownnote now that I've changed the schedule of the chart, but also because I don't want a large gap since the last time I made a Crownnote chart, and I found that site very challenging to use anyway, so I'd rather just post my charts on my blog. 

Additionally, I'm making one new "rule" for what songs can be on this chart, so that I don't have to deal with what happened with songs like Teenage Dream last year. A song is only eligible for this particular short-term-style chart if it either:

• Was released within the past six months, or...
• Was on the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown or Hitbound within the past six months

If a charting song exceeds one of these time limits, it's safe, but if it exceeds both of these time limits, it will have to be purged from the chart. For example, no songs by any of my top three artists (Olivia, Taylor, Laufey) are currently eligible for the chart. Also, remixes technically count as separate songs, in case you were wondering how Talk Talk is somehow on here even though it misses the cutoff - I just used the Troye Sivan version. Anyway, here is my chart for this week.
